Haglund’s Deformity & Achilles tear

Hi, I have a really prominent Haglund’s deformity on my left heel. It has, at time, in the past been sore and inflamed. I can usually ice it for a day or two and it would get better.

In April it started hurting quite a bit and while it would get a little less painful and then back to very painful, it hurt constantly and nothing helped.

I got an MRI and it showed a high-grade Achilles tendon tear and some tendonitis in some other areas of my ankle- probably because I’ve limped around for 3 months. I know I didn’t have any injury to the tendon- I’m assuming it’s the Haglund’s deformity basically sawing it apart.

Has anyone else had this combination of issues that can shed some light on what to expect for recovery? I haven’t seen ortho yet- they should be calling me for an appointment today or tomorrow.

I am a travel nurse and I realllly don’t want to be immobile for several weeks 😭 I’ve been wearing a cam boot on my days off trying to give it a rest.

Thanks in advance for any insight!
