In a less expensive USAF option, Convair converted the huge, straight-winged B-36 Intercontinental Bomber into the equally large YB-60 & XB-60 as competition to the superior Boeing XB-52. Though frequently test flown, neither Convair twins went into production. [1952]

FILM FRIDAYS: Conquest of Space (1955) echoes a Saturday morning kids movie about space travel with colorful space scenes and danger. Unintentionally funny today with a couple of irritating characters. I prove it at my link in comments.

MONDAY MOVIES: Gangster Story (1959) is a basement-budgeted film that's laughable throughout but it's not a comedy. Don't search for the humor, I found it for you. Walter Matthau's first/last directing assignment. See my comment link.

When Kellogg's food kitchen researcher, Jimmy Harris, added a daughter (Kathleen) to his family of seven boys, he called her his "Special K." Harris's suggested name for his formula was a perfect fit. [1957]

MONDAY MOVIES: Murder By Contract (1958) is a quirky film about a laid-back businessman who becomes a hit man for extra money and for a good challenge. He becomes the Wile E. Coyote of contract killers. I explain in my comment link.

FILM FRIDAYS: Teen Age Thunder (1957) is another in a long line of low-budget films trying to capitalize on "Rebel Without A Cause". A young Robert Fuller has star quality. Chuck Courtney does not. You'll want to read the essentials at my link below.

Get High for A Quarter: Glide-O-Bike was an optimistic, 25-cent contraption that would attach to a bicycle. This assumes you could pedal fast enough to become airborne on a 40-pound two-wheeled anchor. Read the ad's tantalizing 1931 text.
