Longer name for Jack?

Looking at a cute boys jeans (as capris ) on eBay from the 1990’s and was wondering how much vanity sizing had changed boys jeans. I have a 24” waist and 28/29” hips, inseam 26”. Wearing as capris. Should the 8’s fit? Has vanity sizing affected boys jeans?
